Day 12
by Kerry
The seeds we plant.
How often do you think about the seeds that you plant on a daily basis with your words?
Sometimes I think we get so caught up in ‘big picture’ thinking, we almost forget how deeply we can hurt others with unlovely seed planting along the way.
I know of some verrrrrrry unlovely words spoken this past week and it breaks my heart. They’re hard to brush aside. Or just plain ignore. They penetrate into the soil of our souls and make themselves at home. And then those words rot. Sometimes for a long, long time.
Oh, there are so many things I’d love to say on this topic, but I’m restraining myself. I’ve deleted lines in this post because I can think of numerous instances when I needed the grace. The forgiveness.
How do you handle ugly situations and unlovely words?
Prayer and humility are flooding me lately… along with reading through the Psalms!!
But it’s still extremely hard, isn’t it? We are so human.

Yes. We are *so* human… exactly right. Knowing just what you mean about words being able to break our heart. Praying we all find the grace to forgive.
Thanks, Jennifer. So sorry for any unlovely in your life right now. Praying with you!
So human is right. Understanding this about ourselves and all that surround us helps me a great deal.
Yes, it’s across the board all of us. Thanks for reading, Heather. :)
It is extremely hard. I think you summed it up perfectly. I wish I could just keep my ugly words to myself, and I struggle with it.
So hard not to judge when someone is attacking. Walls go up and defenses kick in.
